HAPPY SPRING TIME! My sister Hesbell and I looked super cute at Easter, so I had to document it in drawings. A lil’ art-gift for her for completing her first year of University (congrats!!)

Emerald City Comic Con March 28-30

Hey Seattle! Emerald City Comic Con is in two weeks and I’ll be exhibiting at booth #308 with my brother Shaggy and our pal Tony Cliff (creator of the action adventure delight “Delilah Dirk”!)

We’re in a great spot next to comic publishing biggies “Dark Horse” and “Image Comics” as well as my comic hero Jeff Smith’s own publishing house “Cartoon Books.” We’d love to see YOU! Come hang out and chat with us and take a look at our comics, prints, originals, and other merchandise (and maybe buy a thing or two, wink wink!)

And let me know if you have any tasty local food recommendations we should check out while in town :)

Guys with Pencils: Art Theft

I was invited back for another episode of "Guys with Pencils"to talk about...

Katie Shanahan and J. Bone have joined us this week to talk about THEFT! specifically, Art Theft. Why Katie and J. you ask? Well because they are victims of having their own pieces of artwork stolen, traced and displayed without having any source credit to the original works or creators! This is a really interesting topic and we were very lucky to have such wonderful artists who can give their accounts as to what steps they took once they realized their work had been stolen.

(Rating: Mature (or immature!) language warning for more sensitive listeners)

If you find yourself in a similar situation, Stuart Immonen recommended on twitter that "The Artists' Legal Advice Service" is not-for-profit and has helped him in the past:

Truly Outrageous

Sketching out Jem drawings for todays @sketch_dailies tag, not sure if I’ll have time to ink and colour, but we’ll see.
I never watched the show as a kid, kind of missed the boat on it, but I checked out episode 1 online to research for this and OH MY GAWD. Electric guitar motorcycles, candy coloured hair, grievous betrayal from a money jar, orphanage on fire, glorious 80s everything… Jem is a TREAT and a half.

(first pass attempt before actually watching the show)

Wasn't really in the zone during yesterday's life drawing class, so I don't have much to share, but here are some warm up gestures from the last two sessions (mostly Maria from last week).

Street Peep

Poncho wearing lady I saw while walking around the city (a nice visual change from all the Canada Goose jackets everywhere).

Dr Sketchy's Event Poster

Toronto’s Dr Sketchy’s Reloaded (cabaret life drawing) sessions are BACK and I was hired on to draw a mermaid Cassia Sparkle for the next event (March 7)!  Photo by Jeffrey Adam Danyleyko, arm modelling by Sergio Pomeda, graphic design stuff by Jeremy Cardarelli and Lauri Lewis.

Also included, some of my earlier rough sketches.
